The Heart of Rise & Shine

Hi, I’m Krista — and this is the heart behind Rise & Shine Speech and Language.

From the time I was young, I’ve felt a deep love for God and a calling to serve others, especially children. Over the years, that calling became beautifully clear: to help children find their voice.

​

I’ve always been fascinated by language — how it connects us, how it carries meaning, and how it can open doors that once felt closed. In college, a linguistics class first sparked that fascination. Later, through children’s ministry and a minor in Christian ministry, I saw how God uses communication to build connection, hope, and faith.

 

Speech therapy became my way of living out that calling — a blend of my love for language and my desire to serve. I believe every child, no matter their abilities, was created with purpose and a voice that matters. Helping them discover that voice — to say what they need, what they love, and who they are — is holy work to me.

 

My hope is that each child who walks through my door feels loved, seen, and empowered. That they learn their words and actions have power — power to connect, to create change, to share joy, and one day, maybe even to share the gospel.
